BETWEEN TERRACES AND DOMES
The story of this home begins with its location in the attic of a historic building in Ciutat Vella: a space of just 50 square meters, yet almost entirely surrounded by terraces on two levels, offering a theatrical view of the domes of the old city.
On the lower floor, the entire layout revolves around a large open area that functions as a living room and office, seamlessly connected to the kitchen. This space can be transformed into a guest bedroom with two simple adjustments to the custom-designed furniture.
The upper floor houses a bedroom with “suite-like aspirations,” directly facing a perfectly oriented terrace lushly bordered by greenery.
On each level, a large terrace invites residents to enjoy Barcelona’s favourable climate, allowing life to unfold beyond the apartment’s construction limits. The frenetic rhythm of tourists fades away at this elevated vantage point, and the cross-ventilation provides a rare comfort in the city centre.
In our continuous effort to harmonize the soul of the space with that of its inhabitant, we have created a blank canvas that wraps the entire interior. Some bare walls and exposed structures speak to the building’s age and the events it has weathered. Completing the palette are shades of grey that occasionally lean toward blue, along with touches of natural wood that lend warm accents of light.
